Team Reilly-Dixon is back for another year of Jr. Explorers Club!
Our goal is to use what we have – curiosity and courage – to explore all that New York City has to offer. Every day is a field trip, and every trip is a discovery. We have a weekly mission, and every day is a chance to get closer to that goal. Junior Explorers work together and play together, building friendships and teamwork, while exercising creativity and problem-solving in a unique summer experience.
Last summer, we created a homemade candy store during Sweet Week, started a blog and Twitter account during Tech Week, and uncovered secrets of the city during Histories and Mysteries Week.
We have a new location for base camp this summer! We’ll gather each morning at NYU Poly in Downtown Brooklyn to learn about our day’s mission from a guest explorer. Between our field trips we’ll gather back at base camp to update our blog, work on art projects, analyze, dissect, and discuss our findings, as well as have a place to relax at the end of a long day of exploring.
We explore the city with all of our gear in hand and are always prepared to expect the unexpected! We travel by foot, subway, and city bus with our backpacks full of the supplies we will need for each new adventure. Explorers need a good lunch, a water bottle, snacks, and a change of clothing after we get wet from cooling down in some of the city’s best water parks.
Time to Explore!
